Sussex
Work started on the Sussex RUS in May 2008. The Draft for Consultation was published in May 2009, consultation closed in August 2009 and the final RUS was published on 29th January 2009.
The RUS covers services from London Bridge, London Victoria and London Blackfriars to the Sussex coast, along with services on the West Coastway, East Coastway, North Downs and Tonbridge - Redhill routes.
The RUS identifies a number of gaps, the most significant of which is overcrowding on peak services to/from London, in particular, services on the Redhill corridor, the Brighton Main Line and fast line services from East Croydon. Other gaps examined include journey times between regional centres, major station capacity and performance in the RUS area.
The RUS recommends a range of options to bridge these gaps, including train lengthening and additional services to address capacity and linespeed improvements at key locations to improve journey times.
